Its humble beginnings… Okaya City, one of the 19 cities of Nagano-ken located in the north-eastern part of Japan's main island Honshu, is a home to about a thousand Filipinos coming from different places in the Philippines. Milestones
UFO launched their first major project which they tagged as "iranai mono choudai"(please
give us your unneeded things), a relief goods campaign on November 2007. This
campaign aims to collect used clothing, shoes, bags and other relief goods from
people in Okaya City and other neighboring cities to be sent to the Philippines
in time for Christmas. As of December 2, 2007 the organization has already collected
two balik-bayan boxes full of relief goods donated by the Filipino community of
Okaya, Suwa and Fujimi. The Japanese Catholics of Fujimi parish has also sent
their donation of used clothing and other relief goods...
